Manildra directly employs about 1600 staff – more than three-quarters in regional areas of NSW – and over 8000 further workers indirectly.
The Manildra Meat Company (at Cootamundra, NSW) employs hundreds of staff on site, while our joint venture processing plant (at Bomaderry, NSW) employ close to one hundred workers with Argyle Prestige Meats.
Our joint venture for MSM Milling (at Manildra, NSW) employs close to one hundred workers in the production of specialist vegetable oils and performance stockfeed.
Our Shoalhaven starch and ethanol plant at Nowra is the largest privately-owned employer in the region, with about 300 staff.
Our four flour mills (at Manildra, Gunnedah, Narrandera and Nowra in NSW) employ hundreds and our generous retirement fund is run solely for the benefit of its members, current or former employees of our flour mills. Manildra has maintained strong relationships with Australian farming families for four generations. In NSW, the majority of farming is mixed, with primary producers diversifying across cropping and livestock.
Manildra works in hand with over 5000 farmers throughout the year, mostly direct-purchasing grain, canola and livestock for processing.
Reciprocally, Manildra Stockfeeds supplies enough supplementary feed to enrich the health and nutritional needs of 370,000 head of cattle daily. This includes most of the major beef feedlots in NSW and Victoria and dairy farms throughout northern and south coast regions of NSW, as well as Victoria’s Goulburn Valley, Gippsland and Western Districts.
Manildra Harwood Sugars – the only 100 per cent Australian-owned sugar refiner – refines cane from 600 farmers, comprising the entire NSW crop.
Manildra alone contributes about $185 million to Australia’s GDP (and supports a total indirect economic annual contribution of about $700 million).
We highly value our relationships with our workers, farmers, suppliers, partners and customers – some of these relationships spanning the full six decades and four generations of our family company’s history.
